Universal Tarot is an elegant, modernized interpretation of the beloved RWS images. Drawn with Italian flair, the classic scenes are depicted more dynamically, and with sharper focus. The symbolism remains very faithful to the original, but the art is more refined. The deck’s palette of colors is both lighter and brighter than the RWS. Subtle shadings and occasional changes in perspective give the images a more photorealistic appearance. Universal Tarot offers a more polished, sophisticated interpretation of the RWS deck. It is ideal for people who do not like Pamela Colman Smith’s art, but do wish to work with a deck designed to follow RWS very closely.
