Not useable anymore
Since some month I cannot use it anymore. Always when I try to connect, the app change to the settings. There everything is activated but I cannot get a connection.

I genuinely like the app but there is a huge bug ..
Whilst I do like the amount of hotspots and how easy it is to go online there is a huge issue especially in Europe.
The app itself is pretty straight forward and easy to use. However somehow it suppresses any other apps that work likewise.
For example I also do have a hotspot flatrate via my provider (T-Mobile) with their own app (Telekom Connect).
The same applies in many hotels where I receive vouchers during my stay. Often I can’t obtain these as the Boingo-App seems to always get „first dip“.
Whilst I should generally not have to care whether the hotel itself, the provider or Boingo brings me online there are some perks & reasons why I would decide against Boingo in some cases - e.g. as Boingo cuts the connection as soon as the device is idling or every XXX MB used.
This leads to unfortunate disconnects when listening to music, streaming movies, playing games etc
I would really appreciate if this could be fixed and I would get an option to manually select how I can go online.

Most of the time no connection via mobile device
In most cases the app doesn't work properly, means a connection is not possible. If you're lucky and can connect, it works perfect.

Mal wieder ein Update
Zum Boingo-Update vom 17.09.2016:
Ein erster Test an einem Telekom Hotspot ergab: Nach über einem Jahr scheint es endlich zu zu funktionieren. Jedenfalls keine Fehlermeldung bei der Einwahl mehr und der Aufruf einer Test-Seite war erfolgreich. Wenn es jetzt noch automatisch klappt, dann könnten wir noch Freunde werden.
Warum man hierfür allerdings ein gutes Jahr benötigt hat, erschließt sich mir nicht. Wir erhöhen mal von eins auf drei Sterne.

Großartig Jungs bei @boingo. Diesmal muss man gar nicht erst testen. Die App stürzt gleich beim Start ab. Scheinbar wirkt die Nörgelei, nach ein paar Monaten Winterschlaf jetzt updates im Wochentakt - jetzt noch einen Programmierer einstellen und ggf. sogar vor einem Release testen und so ab 2020 könnte es was werden. Oder mal bei den Kollegen von FON nachfragen. Dort ist man einfach online. Einfach so. Krass oder?

App mit Schwierigkeiten sich einzuloggen
Habe diese App durch meine Gold Kreditkarte als Gratiszusatzleistung dazu bekommen.Und ich muss nun nach inzwischen vielen Aufenthalten in anderen Städten und Geschäftsreisen endlich mal eine Bewertung schreiben. Generell muss ich sagen, dass die App für mich in vielen Hotspots nichts funktiniert(e).
Mit einer Ausnahme, die ich zufällig im Urlaub machte ( wir machten Urlaub in Frankreich und an dem Ort war der einzige kostenpflichtige Hotspot bei uns im Hotel). Den Hotspot im Hotel konnte ich mit Boingo problemlos nutzen und habe so im Urlaub die täglichen 5€ Internetgebühr gespart, die der Hotspot sonst gekostet hätte! Das war für mich natürlich toll (ingesamt 55€ gespart)
Da Boingo für mich als Kreditkarten-Kunde kostenlos ist, tut es mir nicht weh wenn es ansonsten echt umständlich oder oft gar nicht funktioniert. Wenn ich jedoch dafür zahlen müsste zB als monatliches Abo würde ich wohl unzufrieden sein.
Weitere Erfahrungen mit Boingo: Ich konnte bisher in einem halben Jahr auf Geschäftsreisen maximal 3x eine wifi-Verbindung mit boingo herstellen mit meinem IPhone oder iPad.

Sinnlose App
Die verfügbaren Wlan werden angezeigt, eine Verbindung damit aufbauen ist bisher nicht gelungen. Auch ohne die App ist dauert es ewig sich mit einem Hotspot zu verbinden.

Blocking issue -> uninstalled
This tool is blocking the 'login page' display in Setting - Wi-Fi when you want to connect to a non-Boingo WiFi. Thus you're ending up with NO WiFi at all.
Immediately uninstalled.

Ärgerlich und nutzlos!
Habe die App seit 3 Monaten als Amex-Kunde und konnte mich 1x am Flughafen in Chicago für 5 Minuten in einen Boingo-Hotspot einwählen. Sonst weder in USA noch EU noch Asien! Um Hotspots auf der Map anzuzeigen brauchts eine Internetverbindung (das ist ja wohl völlig sinnfrei!) und beim Einloggen stürzt die App regelmäßig ab.

Warnung vor dieser App!
Trotz zahlreicher Updates in den letzten Wochen ist diese App nach wie vor nicht zu gebrauchen. Wer als Boingo-Kunde versucht mithilfe dieser App eine Verbindung zu einem Hotspot aufzubauen, wird zwangsläufig eine Fehlermeldung erhalten.
Zusätzlich verhindert die App eine händische Verbindung mit dem Hotspot bei der händischen Eingabe der Login-Daten. Wer sich mit einem (zB Telekom-)Hotspot verbinden will, MUSS diese App vorher deinstallieren.

Zwar zeigt einem die App eine Karte mit den verfügbaren WLAN Hotspots an aber die eigentliche Funktion - die Herstellung einer Verbindung funktioniert nicht!

Kundenservice hilft nicht und selbst die Hotspots, zu denen man vorher bereits Zugang hatte, funktionieren nicht. Boingo sucks a lot.

Sie benühen sich redlich ...
Nach ca. 40 Emails, 2 Telefonaten mit Kalifornien und Beschwerde bei AMEX: Es tut sich was, nach vielen Monaten ohne Update trotz mangelhafter Lösung kamen jetzt innerhalb einer Woche zwei Updates verbunden mit dem Hinweis, die Login Probleme gefixed zu haben.
Ich kann weiterhin festhalten: Auch mit Test von heute morgen ist ein Login weder automatisch noch manuell in die meisten Hotpsots außerhalb der USA möglcih. In der neuen Version werden die Hotspots auch nicht mehr gekennzeichnet.
Ich nutze parallel eine FON app, die funktionert so, wie es sein soll. Wann ist irgendwann verbunden mit WLAN und freut sich. Scheint also kein Hexenwerk zu sein, die Telekom bekommt es auch mittlerweile hin, nur BOINGO, die sich ihren Service teuer bezahlen lassen, versagen hier auf ganzer Linie. Im Arbeitszeuginis würde stehen: Sie bemühten sich redlich.
Ein Trauerspiel.

Abzocke?
Ich nutze Boingo als AMEX- Kunde. Obwohl ich oft unterwegs bin und bereits häufig versuchte, erkannte Netze zu nutzen, ist es mir noch nie gelungen, über Boingo eine brauchbare Verbindung zum Internet herzustellen. Ebenso hoffnungslos ist es, den Kundenservice in Deutschland zu erreichen.

Save yourself trouble- don't install this crap
Do NOT Sign up for Boingo of you Plan to use this App and save yourself trouble! It connects you to available wifi spots but never logs you in. I am tempted to assume the "Whoops, something went wrong!" Message is hard coded...

Funktioniert nur in den USA
In New York funktioniert die App einwandfrei. In Deutschland praktisch nicht. Ich habe dazu im September 2015 einen Case aufgemacht und einen Emailwechsel über 30-40 Antworten gehabt. Obwohl ich detaillierte Informationen bis auf Entwicklungsebene gegeben habe, ist Boingo bis heute (Juni 2016) nicht in der Lage, (vernünftig) zu verbinden.
Für mich war Boingo einer der wichtigen Gründe, mir die Amex Kreditkarte zu holen. Ich werde sie wohl wieder weggeben.
Die OSX App läuft übrigens besser.
Alles in allem ist es einer der schlechtesten Kundenservices, die ich in 20 Jahren IT erlebt habe. Eindeutig nicht empfehlenswert und traurig, dass Apple hier nicht für mehr Qualititässicherung sorgt.

Disaster
Waste of energy and money! Even in the middle of Frankfurt airport you get no connection, so far even in a hot spot I could never get access to Internet despite saying you are now connected. Total failure! Also it is draining the battery incredibly!

Eigentlich sollte diese App mit den entsprechenden Wlans verbinden, dafür hat man ja seine Zugangsdaten hinterlegt. Genau das funktioniert aber nicht, was die App quasi unbrauchbar macht...

Connect funktioniert mit der App nie
Die Funktion der App ist eigentlich einfach: man soll sie nutzen um sich in die Partnernetze einzuwählen. Doch genau das funktioniert quasi nie! Leute ihr müsst dringend die App in Ordnung bringen sonst ist der Nutzen gleich null. Getestet in Spanien und Deutschland.

Not useful at all
How are you supposed to find a hotspot if it is no possible to download the locations. I usually only need hotspots if I am abroad and if I need to use data roaming Boingo Hotspots make no sense at all. Furthermore the login mechanism does not work at all. Tried it at a few hotspots in NYC and on two German airports HAM and STR.

Pay for a service that does not get delivered
It's a shame that I paid a fee in order to use the wifi that nevertheless did absolutely not work. The free wifi worked better than the one that cost money. Not a fun feeling being scammed in such a way.

Sehr nützliche App
...für Leute, die viel reisen und eine Amex Kreditkarte besitzen, mit welcher der weltweite und zeitlich unbegrenzte WiFi-Zugang kostenlos ist. Besonders stark ist Boingo in den Europa, Asien und den USA aufgestellt. Empfehlung!

App is not working
I tried to delete and reinstall the app several times. I stained in contact with the Boingo Support Center by email. But the app is not working. I'm not able to search for hotspots. And the list is always empty. If I try to search manually the app says that I'm not connected to the Internet, but I have WiFi at home, or LTE on the way. The support was not able to help me.

Warum nutzt man Boingo? Weil man im Ausland Internetroaming vermeiden will!
Diese App funktioniert jedoch nur dann wenn man bereits Internet hat. Ohne Internet werden keine Hotspots gefunden. Was die App somit völlig nutzlos macht.

Funktioniert trotz eines Abos nicht
Ich habe die App das erste Mal im Ausland benutzt, weil es in Dtl. kaum Boingo Hotspots gibt. Die App stürzt entweder ab, wenn man schon im Boingo Netz eingeloggt ist oder kann keine Verbindung zum Hotpot herstellen. Das "Abo" ist gratis in eine Kreditkarte enthalten, aber gleichwohl erwarte ich, dass es funktioniert... Derzeit zumindest ist die App wertlos.

Nutzlos
Nutzlose und damit zu teure App. Habe in 4 Wochen in den USA nie einen Boingo-Hotspot gefunden, auch nicht in Städten wie New York. Dafür gibt es dort zum Glück aber jede Menge kostenlose und freie Hotspots. Besonders toll ist es, dass man schon einen bestehenden Internet-Zugang haben muss, damit der WiFi-Finder funktioniert.
