Since ancient times, the Maya have used the 260-day Tzolkin as their personal astrological calendar. Built on a foundation of 20 day signs (nahuales) and 13 numbers, this calendar generates a series of 260 (13x20) daily energies that are highly applicable to the human experience even today. We hope you enjoy this highly interactive, animated Mayan calendar app.
This app follows the sacred traditional count of the Kiche Maya, and is in no way related to the "Dreamspell" or "13-moon" calendar, which were invented in the 20th century.
The full series of the Tzolkin's 260 “Energies of the Day” is now available in their complete form—the meaning and essence of each day sign integrates with the meaning of the accompanying number, generating 260 unique energies finely tuned to the realities of modern day life. You can now take the 260 “Energies of the Day” of this sacred calendar with you wherever you go; no Internet connection is required.
Honed over hundreds of years since the Olmecs first began working with the calendar, the sacred knowledge of the Mayan Calendar has now come to our time, having survived a massive campaign of destruction by the Spanish conquistadores as well as multiple attempts to re-invent and re-define it outside of its proper context—and, most importantly, still remains incredibly accurate and relevant to our modern lives and lifestyles.
We built this app to enable you to connect on a daily basis with the energies of the sacred Tzolkin calendar, and to understand the nature and meaning of the Tzolkin’s essential building blocks—the day signs and the numbers. The “Energy of the Day” descriptions are based on authentic interpretations and practices of this sacred calendar that have been made available to us by the Maya of the Guatemalan highlands.
