They charged me 100 dollars for my 2nd baggage, although I’m a gold member, because they were unable to include my miles number. Germany as country in the billing address is not an option. In fact there are only very few country options… I wonder why european countries are not listed?

Was forced to download this app as the promised web check-in didn’t work without passport photo verification via this app. And exactly this didn’t work at all despite of many unsuccessful attempts. The app identified and displayed all relevant data from the uploaded passport photo correctly but still terminated the process always with error message “Please try again, unable to read the document”. Result: Check-in not possible. Sorry this is a crap app and bad customer service (the United staff at the customer support hotline were only able to repeat robot-like phrases from their given guidelines without even trying to resolve the problem).

Ich mag die United App und als 1k Member ist sie für mich quasi ein zweiter Homescreen. Der Hype um die neue Version 3 war ja gross und ansich ist die App nett gemacht - Aber nicht wirklich was Neues. Die Alte App bekommt 5 Sterne, die neue nur noch 3 - Warum? Weil viele Features noch auf dem „alten Stand“ sind und vorallem die neue App nur so mit Werbung zugepflastert ist. Kreditkarte, Cruise, zusätzliche Services - extrem aufdringlich und nervig. Bei der alten App konnte man das teilweise noch minimieren, jetzt nimmt das viel zu viel Platz ein und nervt massiv.

An sich ist die App gut aufgebaut. Auch der OnlineCheckIn klappt gut. Bis man zu dem Punkt kommt an dem man die Reisepässe per Handykamera einscannen muss. Eine nette und einfache Idee. Am Schluss jedoch erscheint eine Meldung, dass das Einchecken nicht funktioniert hat und man sich am United Airlines Schalter am Flughafen melden soll um den CheckIn, mit dem Erhalt des Boarding Passes, abzuschließen. Somit ist der ganze Prozess des OnlineCheckIn’s via App (der übrigens laut Website nur per App möglich ist) bis zu dieser Meldung umsonst. Schade eigentlich... Die LufthansaApp zB. ist in dieser Hinsicht einfacher.

Entweder ich melde mich am Flughafen zum Einchecken oder ich verwende die United App - damit könne man den Pass scannen und wäre dann verifiziert. Gesagt-getan: Klappt super. Beim Check-In wird der Pass fotografiert und das Bild dann hochgeladen, nach weniger als einer Minute war alles klar und ich konnte dir Bordkarten ausdrucken. Super!

Ich fühle mich zum ersten Mal gezwungen eine App zu bewerten. Wenn Apps normalerweise nicht funktionieren lösche ich sie und es ist mir egal. United zwingt einen aber wenn man online Einchecken will mit der App seinen Pass zu scannen. Es gibt also keine Alternative wenn man Sitze auswählen und Wartezeit am Flughafen einsparen will. Ich habe es 2 mal für jeweils nur 2 Personen versucht. Man wird durch den ganzen Prozess geleitet der jeweils 5-10 min gedauert hat um dann am Ende!! zu erfahren dass es nicht funktioniert hat und man am Schalter Einchecken soll. Das ist ehrlich gesagt eine Zumutung!

This is app is the most unusable airline app I have ever tried to use. Absolutely nothing works as it should.
You want to check in from Europe to US - go to the counter. Vice versa - do the same. Read your passport for check in ? Forget about it if you have an academic title/ degree in your name - we don‘t fly doctors. But most of the time its „data service unavailable“ anyway.
I am a frequent traveller with approx 20 flights between Europe and the US every year and I can check in with the Apps of Lufthansa, British Airways, and KLM just to name a few, but not United.
This app is maybe usable for national flights, but definitely not for international die ones.
