I love papership
I started with ipad version - it saved me from extremely buggy apple books, and the annotations are very convenient to make. Never had issues syncing either. My problem with desktop version is that it downloads all books/papers locally instead of on-demand and it's just too many in my case. I hope this will be taken care of in the future releases

Great in principle but no longer supported
Not working for me anymore to sync, using zotero. Shame because I think I paid for it and it’s quite well featured and good software.
Unfortunately the last update was 3 years ago and it’s clearly no longer maintained, giving a bad review does not help I guess but I would appeal to the developer to find a solution to continue this project, much appreciated!
Uh, I see there’s an official zotero app now! No wonder this is no longer maintained and likely never will be again.

Great. Keep it going!
Very nice tool for research purposes. Intuitive and not overloaded with functionality. Would appreciate some updates regarding the annotation functionality (e.g. smoothing of writings), automatic information completion of papers (e.g. through arxiv links), and some bug fixes (status reports provided by users). This is already a gamechanger for many scientists and possibly many more to come. Keep it going folks! :)

In Zusammenhang mit Mendeley sehr basic, aber funktioniert. 10€ dafür, Highlights zu machen ist mir zu teuer als Student, ansonsten aber fair. Problem: Notizen werden NICHT gespeichert. Nach einmal ‚Fertig‘ und ‚Schließen‘ drücken ist alles, was man sich notiert hat weg. Das geht nicht. Allerdings sieht es so aus, als sei die App inzwischen abandoned…

Super mit Apple Pencil und Zotero
Die Synchronisierung mit Zotero funktioniert einwandfrei und man kann wunderbar Notizen und Markierungen in Papern mit dem Apple Pencil machen.
Leider funktioniert allerdings das Bearbeiten von Metadaten nicht. Die Änderungen gehen immer verloren, sodass man diese stattdessen am PC oder im Web machen muss.

Update to basic functionality needed
On the current version of iOS (15.3.1 as of the time of writing), some basic functionality such as the exporting of texts appears to be broken. Once a text has been exported, the app can only ever export that text again until the app has been uninstalled and reinstalled. Also viewing some menu options causes the app to crash.

Useful app that lacks features
I overall like PaperShip since it enables me to organize and annotate my research papers like no other app I found so far. A place where PaperShip lets you down in my opinion is the annotation tool, since scrolling through the pages on my iPad Pro 2020 is laggy as hell and handwriting recognition is mediocre at best. There is also no option to insert blank pages into a paper to make more verbose notes there.
A major bug seems to be that notes I write for papers are simply not stored and vanish as soon as I close the note writing window. Updates to this app or a better alternative would be much appreciated.

Synchronisation unzuverlässig
Wenn alles funktionieren würde, eine großartige App (mit Zotero). Leider funktioniert die Synchronisation seit kurzem nicht mehr, PDFs werden nicht gefunden, obwohl auf dem Server. Mail an den Support kommt zurück, Entwickler ist wohl unbekannt verzogen… 🙁 Sehr schade, die 10€ hätte ich wohl lieber einem wohltätigen Zweck gespendet.

PDFs werden nicht gefunden oder verschwinden nach dem annotieren
Ich wollte die App als in Kombination mit Mendeley auf meinem iPad nutzen. Leider gibt es ständig irgendwelche Bugs, was die Benutzung echt frustrierend macht. Ganz typisch ist zum Beispiel, dass ich einen Artikel in der Library über die Suchfunktion nicht finden kann, in Mendeley am Desktop ist der Artikel aber offensichtlich da.
Noch viel nerviger ist allerdings, dass manchmal Artikel einfach corrupted werden, während ich sie annotiere, und ich dann das PDF weder in Papership noch in Mendeley öffnen kann. Meine Notizen sind dann natürlich auch weg.
Und Markierungen, die in einem PDF über Mendeley gemacht wurden, werden in Papership auch nicht angezeigt…
Also im großen und ganzen echt schwach für eine kostenpflichtige App…

Great app for zotero
I used zotero on the computer and this app fulfilled almost all my needs:
- read papers from my library on the iPad
- make annotations including the Apple Pencil that get synced with annotations on the computer
My only feature request would be the possibility to open multiple pdfs in tabs on the iPad to allow to easily switch back and forth between documents

Gute App mit Problemen
An sich war ich ganz glücklich mit der App, doch dann ist mir der Speicher auf Zotero ausgegangen und ich wollte die WebDAV Version testen.
Sie klappt leider nicht. Support gibt es nicht. Die Mail-Adresse ist nicht erreichbar und der Helpdesk link ist invalide.
Update, falls jemand das selbe Problem hat:
Authentifizierung geht nur über BasicAuth
und es muss eine lastsync.txt in dem WebDAV Ordner angelegt werden.

Super App. But notes don’t work
With the paid version annotation of pdfs works perfectly and everything gets synced to my zotete account and I can find the annotations everywhere. I can view notes I made in zotete but unfortunately I can’t save the edits I made on the iPad. If the saving of notes is fixed easily a 5 star app!

Sync is buggy, rest is good
Syncing with the server, especially for pdf notes and comments that need to be synchronized with Mendeley does not work properly. This makes the app definitely not worth 11 euros.
Apart from it, it's a good app, especially on Ipad for annotating the pdfs with the pencil I wish they support and fix it in the future.

Super App mit minimalen Bugs
Die App funktioniert super und ist ihr Geld absolut wert. Jetzt kann ich endlich Zotero voll auf dem iPad nutzen.
Ab und zu klappt der sync mal nicht, oder es hängt mal. Meistens lässt sich das aber mit einem Neustart der App beheben.

Großartige App
Ich nutze diese App mit Zotero und bin sehr zufrieden. Auch die Unterstützung des Apple Pencil 2 ist perfekt! Dabei verwende ich Nextcloud als Speicherort. Allerdings muss man zuerst eine leere lastsync.txt Datei in dem Zotero Ordner anlegen, da sonst die Synchronisation nicht möglich ist. Toll wäre es, wenn dieses Problem behoben werden würde.

Die Idee von PaperShip ist super und die Synchronisation und Annotation von Dokumenten zu Zotero funktioniert gut.
Leider funktioniert der angeblich ebenfalls unterstützte WebDAV-Support nicht oder fehlerhaft und der Entwickler ist nicht über die Webseite bzw. die angegebene Support E-Mail erreichbar.

Funktioniert aber nicht ideal
Ich nutze Mendeley und wollte Markierungen und Notizen mit meinem Ipad machen. Allerdings werden die Notizen, die ich mit Mendeley auf meinem Computer mache, von Papership nicht erkannt. Man kann sich Papership for Mac für weitere 10,99€ kaufen, um das zu lösen.
Noch ein Nachteil: Artikel suchen und sortieren ist in Papership nicht so übersichtlich wie in Mendeley.

Already Good with Room for Improvement
This is the only useful App which I found for syncing my Zotero library to the iPad and having all my papers and research articles with me. In addition it allows to annotate the PDFs and sync it with my library, such that all annotations are also present on other devices such as my PC. It does a quite good job here and this is why the App gets four stars from me.
However, there is some room for improvement. I would be very happy if in one of the next versions:
- the structure of my library is also mirrored into the iOS files app, such that I can access the papers from any other App (PDF readers) and automatically have them synced into PaperShip and from there into my Zotero Library
- I have a rather large library but I cannot collapse the hierarchy of collections and sub collections which is a bit annoying; I would be great if those can be collapsed, including some options for “collapse all”, “uncollapse complete sub collection”, etc.

Unlängst habe ich für die Pro-Version gezahlt. Das Ergebnis – die übernommenen Zitate wurden und werden allesamt nicht übernommen! Das ist eine Schande und eine (nach teils mühseligem Abtippen, u. a. von disparaten Print-Ausgaben) kaum wieder gut zu machende Schande!
Wenn ich schon nicht mein Geld zurück bekomme, erhoffe ich mir baldige, zügige Besserung!!

Die Synchronisierung mit einer WebDAV cloud hat nur funktioniert nachdem manuell eine Datei

Geniale App zum Lesen von Papern
Ich nutze die App, um die Paper, die ich mit Zotero verwalte, auf meinen iPad zu lesen und mit dem Apple Pencil Markierungen und Notizen zu machen. Das ist echt gut.
Mir fehlt leider noch eine bessere Darstellung von Tags in der Listenansicht, sowie eine bessere Filter-Funktion. Ich hoffe die kommt noch. 😊👍

Paid Version. Sync Issues. Non-existent Support
I would have loved for this app to work well but sadly it has severe sync issues with Zotero. No one on the support ever responds. Shady that they let the app exist on the store and even charge for it when there is no support provided or any ongoing development to fix the bugs.

Funktioniert nicht und Support nicht erreichbar
Leider funktioniert der Abgleich mit meinen gespeicherten Beiträgen nicht. Webdav gibt immer eine Fehlermeldung aus, obwohl die Verbindung einwandfrei ist.
Die eingebaute Supportkontaktfunktion ergibt auch eine Fehlermeldung. Emails an den Entwickler über die angegebenen Kontaktemail-Adressen (auch der Website) kommen zurück.

Wirklich gut mit Apple Pencil
Endlich habe ich eine Lösung zur PDF-Verwaltung und -Annotation gefunden mit Zotero und PaperShip. Wirklich gut ist dass 1) der Apple Pencil 2 wirklich ganz hervorragend unterstützt wird und 2) die Annotationen in der PDF hard-gecoded werden und nicht wie bei Mendeley oder ReadCube Papers als Meta-Informationen parallel zur PDF gespeichert werden (Ökosystem Lock-in). Seit dem Update in 2019 wird jetzt eben auch der Pencil unterstützt zur Annotation und es funktioniert bestens. Bin wirklich, wirklich glücklich.

Mit dem Zotero-Speicher klappt alles wunderbar.
Wenn ich Zotero jedoch auf einen WebDAV-Server umstelle (egal ob meinen eigenen, den der Uni oder von BOX) bekomme ich leider nur Fehlermeldungen in der PaperShip-App.

Potential but too many bugs
Mendeley does not have a function to annotate in their app, which is the only reason I purchased PaperShip. The Apple Pencil function is ok. Highlighting or drawing a line to the right causes the menu to open which is incredibly annoying. I would not recommend this app unless you need to do a lot of annotating. I wish they would provide an update, the last one was 2016

Solide Integration mit Zotero aber nicht perfekt
Lange kein Update, deshalb bezahle ich nicht für in App Käufe. Auch ist die Integration von externen cloud Anbieter miserabel.

Nur bedingt zum Lesen geeignet
Schöne App prinzipiell, die es ermöglicht die Zotero Library auf das iPad zu synchronisieren. Allerdings gibt es einige Einschränkungen:
* Filtern über Tags ist deutlich umständlicher als in Zotero.
* Gespeicherte Suchen werden nicht angezeigt.
* Es gibt immer wieder kleine Darstellungsprobleme, die nur durch einen Restart gelöst werden.
* Hoher Akkuverbrauch beim Lesen.
* Stürzt bei mir oft ab und reißt alle bisherigen Kommentare mit sich.
Wegen der letzten beiden Probleme nutze ich PaperShip nicht mehr zum Lesen und Annotieren sondern exportiere und importiere die Paper in eine andere App. Das ist etwas umständlich, funktioniert aber robust.

Sehr gut, aber
.... die App zieht enorm viel Akku. Wenn ich intensiv mit der App arbeite, bin ich inzwischen immer auf ein Ladekabel angewiesen. (Obwohl mein iPad noch sehr neu ist und die Akku Kapazität normal ist).
