Well researched and presented. I could hardly wait for the next episode. Well done and I’ll be on the lookout for more fin review podcasts

I thought the story was amazing, but we know pretty much all of the details of the crime in episode one. There was zero suspense and no reveal. The twist was not what I would describe as a plot twist… Not exactly a surprising revelation. I limped to the end of this series. Sorry folks.

I really enjoyed this pod! I hadn’t heard about this story when it happened so it was very interesting to hear it unfold. The host is easy to listen to and the production is great. I liked the 30 odd minute episodes and the fact there were less than 10. A great pod to listen to when you need a break from your usual long format pods. I would love to hear “the other side” of the story, hopefully that happens!!

Exemplary

Absolutely riveting, adept interviewing with the top in their field, well researched and solidly pulled together with no sensationalism given the scale of their crime. Despite all he has endured, Chris Hill remains quite patently remorseful for his part - all the attributes of a good human being. Wishing Chris Hill all the best for the future. Immense thanks to Angus Grigg for this exemplary series.

Good podcast although it paints a very compassionate picture of white collar crime. I guess it’s a reflection on how we view it as a society.

Angus Grigg and his team created a podcast that was open in its tone, didn’t crowd the story with too many points of view and allowed the listener to respond to Chris and Lucas’s stories. A bit too much repetition for me but that’s my only irritation.

This was a terrific series from start to finish. Whether one respects Chris personally or not, it’s hard not to respect his bravery in coming on the show to tell his side of the insider trading scandal that rocked Australia. Lukas remains an enigma, and frankly, I’m still surprised that Chris would ever stick his neck out for such an average financial payout anyway. Well, I guess that’s part of the story’s intrigue, right? Highly recommend this podcast.

Excellent Podcast and very well researched. The fact that Chris has taken the time to be interviewed multiple times shows that he is willing to take ownership of his part in the scheme, the same cannot be said for Lukas Kamay. He has remained silent effectively since the news broke back in 2014. That is understandable in itself but listening to Chris taking a “forgiving” line when questioned about Lukas’ motives/blame-shifting in court is cringeworthy and at times eye-roll inducing. Kamay got a longer sentence because he was seen for what he is, a manipulative fraudster with zero scruples.

Frustrating

I found the premise very exciting and was looking forward to it. But it ended up a puff piece excusing the selfish decisions made by Chris and was astonished he thought he deserved another chance at a financial career. Do something else mate.

Binged the podcast. Fascinating insight into insider trading and an interesting reflection on the cost of crime and societies ability to allow those who have served their time re-enter the community.

This is a really interesting story of insider trading but also gave good insight into the two guys behind it, Chris and Lucas. I liked how Chris told the story how it actually happened, and didn’t try to put a spin on it or make himself look like the victim. He came across as a genuine person.

It’s good to get the background on this high profile story.

What a fantastic podcast - it was put together so well. I loved how they incorporated interviews with those who were involved in the case, provided background on insider trading for those who weren’t too familiar with the concept and hearing from Chris. Thank you for a GREAT listen!

Angus is a great author, awesome podcast great story what a humble guy Chris is he stuffed up, done his time owned it, he can move on with his head held high unlike Lucas who will probably never learn, greedy spoilt brat who would throw his own family in the firing line for greed.

Glad Chris got an opportunity to move forward in finance. It’s clear he was (as put in PC) thrown under a bus by a young man who shows no remorse. He was sly and manipulative & his demeanour says it all. As u said on podcast still living a high life instead of lying low. Clearly a spoilt kid syndrome behaviour trait

From the first episode it’s just a story that keeps on giving. I’m almost sorry it finished after the 7th episode. It’s worth the time to just listen to this story. So well told, presented and put together. Great material I can almost see the movie (but the podcast will be the best)

Was not sure when I came across this podcast as I do lean towards true crime podcasts. Being Australian had never come across this story and the amount involved in this white collar crime. I certainly had a lot of time and respect for one of the parties involved which you will work out when you listen to the podcast. His punishment seemed extreme but I admired the way he owned it. Loved the reporter too who narrated this and made it easy to understand the workings of this crime in layman terms.

Well told, no sensation but gripping. Astonishing betrayal by the ‘mastermind’ and astonishing accountability by the partner in crime. What an exceptional person Chris is. Thank you for this terrific true crime story AND for highlighting the importance of redemption. Good luck Chris, you deserve a bountiful life.

As someone who has no interest at all in white collar crime, stock market or financial trading, I was absolutely fascinated by this story. The story was well-told, and the complexities were explained in a way that made this very accessible.

Chris - I was very impressed with your openness and your ability to just own your crime. The last episode brought a tear to my eye, because you definitely deserve a second chance.

I was into this in the beginning. Aside for the spin/angle about making Chris out to be almost blameless, I was interested. But honestly, this is at most a 4 part series, could even been 3. There’s not a lot going on after ep 2 honestly… it wasn’t for for the sympathy card the presenters are angling for, which honestly was just beyond annoying, this could have been neatly wrapped up in a lot less eps. In the end a bit of a dud.

Best podcast to binge!

This podcast is well-researched and detailed, the presenters are great and the interviews are thoughtful. But I just don’t get how it became 7 episodes...? Am I the only one who doesn’t think this crime is all that complicated or intriguing...? I felt like the events were laboured too much at certain points and many things were repeated laboriously. I feel like I’m missing something - everyone else seems to be so enthralled!

Best episodes are the last 2 that explores ethical decision making and discusses returning to life post-incarceration.
I struggle with the long jail terms for victimless crimes. It’s just money. They didn’t hurt anyone.
I’m sure there’s more appropriate ways to discipline these young men.
Did they pay any tax? If so, how does the ATO deal with the proceeds of crime?

I found the story interesting and well told. A bit troubling to hear that had Lucas stuck to the original plan they would not have been caught. Hopefully there are better systems in place to detect even low level insider trading nowadays.
