A tired, disillusioned man in his forties revisits his hometown and runs into his high-school sweetheart, a frank, jaded widow also in her forties, whose wellspring of love has run dry but whose anger at him has subsided. Although they enjoy a pleasant ramble down memory lane, both realize that they can't go back and retrieve the good times they spent together.
