The podcast of podcasts

By far the best podcast around. If you are thirsty for knowledge, eager to learn, and ready to challenge your views, then this is the podcast to subscribe to. I learn something new with every conversation. Sam is excellent at probing and steering the conversation in a meaningful manner, without forcing it. It feels like a discussion and meaningful conversation among experts and I can’t recommend it enough.

I love this podcast and what Sam is doing with it. Keep up the great work and keep those conversations coming.
I have been listening since the first ones came out and I listen each time they appear. They are incredible, interesting and diverse not to mention educational.
Thank you :)

Absolutely loving the podcasts, Sam! Long drives are no longer and empty waste of time, as well as making the journey go way quicker, I feel like I have gained something from every episode I’ve listened to so far. Every conversation continues to open my mind and feed my curiosity! Very grateful for your work, so long may it continue - and I’ve decided to contribute a few dollars a month to do my bit!
One criticism - why did you change the music at the start of Making sense?! Loved the waking up intro! :(

Seriously, 2 of the greatest minds around today. Such clarity and thought in what they have to say with Sam really explaining mindfulness to the slightly sceptic Mr Fry.....superb talk.

When I listen to this kind of conversations, my mind doesn't wonder anymore - I get to follow an idea for longer and definely it is enriching for me. Thank you Sam.
Easy to listen due to the fact that Sam is a smart, articulated host. Higly recommended.

Sam is someone I admire immensely; sure , he makes the occasional rather peculiar utterance (his discovery that history was happening to him, too - no pun intended!-thanks to 9/11, for example is a classic bit of American-centrism but we can forgive him this). He is always patient and courteous- and ready to have his intuitions challenged on air: I listen to some podcasts over and over, the David Deutsch pair are a wonder in this world of cretinous discourse posing as learned debate. Great source of reading material, too!
He is doing something special here and I commend this podcast series to anybody with a curiosity as to the disturbing puzzle that is humanity.

Great show but guest quality slipping a little

I’ve been a regular listener for many years and have always looked forward to the podcast. I like to listen as I walk my dog through the fields near my home.
My only criticism is that guest quality seems to be slipping lately. I’ve rarely bailed on a podcast but lately I’ve found myself doing exactly that.
An hour of a ‘chippy’ feminist banging on about #metoo? I’ll pass thanks.
And the latest English dude who moved to the US and didn’t explain why during the podcast (you’d think that might merit a comment at least?) whose argument on drugs appeared to be: the opposite of addiction is connection therefore legalise all drugs. Yeah, no holes in that argument, right? Guy’s a genius.
Come on Sam. I like it best when you’re debating rather than just giving the guest a platform.

Sam invites fascinating guests and has some truly interesting conversations that are impossible not to learn from. This is one of my favourite podcasts. What I like about Sam Harris the most is his ability to change his mind, to express his ideas often before they are full formed. He can admit when he is wrong. This does not happen often – his arguments are usually strong, cogent, well-researched and thought-through – but he certainly is willing to say he is wrong in some statements and viewpoints. That said, he thankfully doesn’t allow others to get away with weak, illogical arguments. He challenges and he can calmly dissect and destroy arguments that do not hold. I don’t agree with him about everything but he always makes me think; he always shakes my views about things.

Sam Harris podcast is clear thinking, interesting and fearless. Unlike so many podcasts, Sam is not compromised by self interest or self preservation.
He is open minded; meaning he is willing to change his mind and frequently does when challenged with rational argument.
He is no push over and frequently puts his ideas, popular or not (and by proxy himself )into the intellectual ring. With a range of interesting guests and topics, this is the gold standard for this genre of podcasting
Finally, Sam risks being able to say ‘I told you so’, when our AI overlords take over, and America realises that Donald Trump isn’t in this for the little man

Covers a truly diverse mix of topics and guests covering genuinely important areas of discussion, including those that are increasingly being shut down in universities and other institutions that should operate free speech. Everything is dealt with fairly, under Harris' laser-sharp focus on logic, rational thought, and science. Highly recommended for anyone who likes to base their opinions on facts and evidence, and/or wants to restore their faith in the possibility that humanity can move forward not backward in the coming years, if only we have more of the right kinds of conversation.

Sam Harris has an impressive depth and breath of knowledge on many important issues we must engage with if our planet is to survive and our societies and cultures continue to exist and thrive. Whilst that does not make him unique what does set him aside from most is that his insight is underpinned by a pious commitment to honest conversation held in good faith. As an aside he is also acutely aware of his human qualities and how they may affect his podcast experiment. I will always enjoy hearing Sam riff, toil, explain, engage and illuminate so many deeply important topics with an unparalleled array of guests. Tip of the hat to you Sam, keep up the good work.
From one of you many UK fans. Cheers

Fantastic and thoroughly engaging. I started listening to Waking Up in March this year (from episode #1) and have just caught up - I listen whenever I have a free moment. Very measured conversations with a variety of interesting themes - all are hugely important and never dull.

Refreshingly balanced discussion in our now polarised society.

Sam was naively taken in by Maajid and it’s becoming clearer now what Maajid is really like from listening to many of his LBC shows. He is the ultimate pragmatist. He called the Sweden Democrats “Nazis” and generally is becoming a SJW extraordinaire and Islam apologist, especially as he realises how rapid demographic change is occurring in the UK, & especially UK’s largest cities, Birmingham and London, and how the Islamists’ alliance with the Marxist Labour Party that is astoundingly level pegging in polls, so could form the next UK government. Sam is oblivious to all this.

I dig your podcasts, but I think you should leave your 'housekeeping' and 'funding appeal' segments in the podcast's description text. People just want the meat and bones of your topics. The funding appeal are like the onerous YouTube adverts that people pay to avoid - only in this case, everyone must suffer them! But please, keep up the great work.

Sam Harris loves reason so much he’s prepared to follow it right up to and past where it’s uncomfortable to be in today’s ideal led, identity driven climate. Whatever you may think of him, you cannot deny, unless you are truly lost to what constitutes good faith, that his goal is to confront the major issues of our time and denude them of wishful thinking and idealogical bias. You wouldn’t feel a debate is fully explored without his voice. Essential.

A couple of questions for Sam. Ahead of these, thanks for the podcasts which are thought-providing and very informative. As an occasional listener, I heard your appeal for listeners’ contributions for the first time today. I share your concerns regarding advertising and have no problem in principle with donating (I do so to the Guardian in the UK). But I would like to know how the money is spent and whether your interviewees make monetary contributions given that they are either promoting either a book/show of there’s or just raising the profile. Once again, thanks

Totally changed my mind on numerous issues, and introduced me to countless more. But it gets better... Listening to Sam Harris, you are constantly given the impression of what it would be like to look at the world without a need to find any particular conclusions. Maybe that is naive. But this seems escpecially true when you hear him debate with someone who disagrees with him. It just becomes more and more apparent that they have some kind of emotional fog that completely forbids them to see what they are looking at in any different way. And with this illustration one beholds first-hand, in all its unadultered misery, the folly of mankind..

This podcast is brilliant.

Interesting and much needed discussions on numerous subjects that often get ‘soundbite’ treatment by news.
