Chatting with friends through signal is running out of my patience. Whatever you send, you have to keep signal open for a while, maybe at least 3-10sec, your friends receive 1 msg finally. Even I deleted some stickers, only sent words, the situation has not been any changed. Hope you can consider that. Make the app goes smoothly.

I have been using Signal for awhile now and really appreciate how you put privacy as one of your missions in developing this app. However, whenever I try to take a photo from the conversation box, the app shuts down after a few seconds. This continues to be a problem. Same applies to whenever I attach a photo, and try to scribble on it or crop its size, the app shuts down.
Please fix this problem as soon as possible. It has been bothering me for quite awhile and I think these are basic necessities for a messaging app.

I do really enjoy using Signal, but please help me to fix the problem.
In these few months, I started missing the messages as there are not any notifications once the messages is delivered to me. I need to open the app then those messages show up, always makes me miss those important messages. I do follow the instructions to check all the notification setting, and all the setting is on and correct. I deleted the app and reinstall it, the problem does not solve. I really wanna know what happened to my signal.

I’ve backup my phone on iCloud, however there was some bug with my phone settings so I had to reset my settings on my iPhone. Meaning it helped me to log out of all my apps (social media, bank, everything) and when I logged back in, everything was gone. It required me to have an old phone to restore messages, however there was no ‘old phone’.
Couldn’t even restore the message even when I had the chat history on my laptop or iPad.
Just lost all my chat history, TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE.
Do not recommend signal, I’m not using it anymore as well-.-

While t is the privacy champion of all instant messenger, the app is lacking a nos of essential functions but app size is getting bigger and bigger. Compared to both WhatsApp and telegram in which app sizes are around 80M, signal app size has been growing over 150M!
The worst of all, its storage management obviously is having issues. I just have around 10 nos of chats in which most of them were to delete msg in a week or so. Deleted all the video msg leaving less than 50 nos of photos but the storage is still over 800MB!

Dear Signal Engineer Team,
Recently, I updated its latest version of 5.18.3. After used it for a few days, I found out that the quality of the video I sent to my friend or received from my friend was very very very bad. Even though I set Sent Media quality as high in Data Usage page, the image in the video is very blurry and unclear. I was very disappointed with this. According to your description under “What’s News, it stated that “A picture may be worth 1K words, but now you can send them in 4k. Use the new quality selector to optionally send higher-resolution”. I strongly believe that those videos are not 4k video. Please fix this issue as soon as possible.

I truly enjoy using Signal and am willing to donate for the apps development (everything needs money we all understand that!) You all have been going a great job! However it would be great if we can have these features in the future version:
1) Starred message (need not to explain I guess, everyone is requesting the same!)
2) Search message outside the chat box (like when I want to search sth but I completely forgot who were I talking to)
3) different apps icon option (minor things but would be fantastic to have so)

1. The signal notification is not working quite often recently. We don’t get the message until we click into the app.
2. Starred message function should be installed. It is inconvenient to find back the link or website by scrolling through the record.
3. Search history is not functioning well. We cannot search for all the messages by searching the keywords through search engine.
4. Sometimes have to click twice in order to play the recordings.
5. Quite lots of spam messages recently… please ensure those are not happening again as it is really annoying to receive that much spam messages in a day.

Signal could have won the market with WhatsApp’s horrible privacy policy BUT you app is full of spam and everyone has issues with not getting notifications and having missed messages. You just had to have a decent basic functioning app! The spam is not acceptable. Worse than our fears of what whatsapp would become. I get spam messages everyday on signal. Also when I make a signal phone call or someone tries to call me on signal the phone never seems to notify the person being called.

Messages delay and search function

I enjoy using signal, however the following two things I always find annoying.
1. Messages Delay in IOS
It’s weird that for some chats, messages sometimes delay and you couldn’t tell. You thought simply they do not receive the messages, but in fact both of us should be always reachable.
But what make things even worse is that not until you send message to that person again, you don’t receive his replies!
2. Search Function
Like to other commenter, it’s better to have the ‘star’ function or so. Hard to check out chat records in Signal.
Also like when you check out the photos sent, unlike WhatsApp or some other Messenger Apps, you couldn’t also go back to that day of chats viewing the text messages.
I hope these will soon be fixed, especially the delay problem which I found from the Internet that this happens for years already.

Yes, a word “ forward “ should be shown when sharing someone’s message/ video...so that to make known to others.
Find difficult to bring cursor back to the beginning lines when typing correction is needed!
Can’t speed up to fast pass to the video’s last part ( can’t move the video playing cursor )when viewing someone’s video
Date of more than previous 2 days should be shown instead of showing the days such as Monday or Thursday...!
Should allow to forward more than one message or audio recordings to others at one one instead of just only one at a time which is time consuming.
Should allow user for speed search by keying in some keywords ( such as title of song ...or word in previous message) to retrieve their previous message or video ( if the video has a title ...) which is a useful function provided by WhatsApp)

When I picked up the phone near my ear and play voice messages, the second one always played with no sound until I reverse it and play it again. Thats annoying me a lot.
Also, searching is quite a disturbing user experience, since it canonly search groups and names by only typing every character from the beginning.

The app was great to have more secured fx than other apps. Yet, please kindly consider to improve on listening voice msg. Everytime there is no sound for the voice msg after putting my phone near ears. I needed to tap again and quickly hear to the voice. Also, multiple voice msg could not automatically play which really made inconvenience. More, it would be great to have signs for the played voice msg so I can easily know which msg had not been heard.

1. The app is not user friendly and it often has some bugs and abruptly shut down itself.
2. Don’t know why there has been large amount of advertising messages about loan, casino, and investment from strangers sent to me daily. I don’t know how they have my contact. I keep deleting and blocking their contacts but there are still many of them keep sending me trash messages. I’m worrying about the privacy and safety issues from using signal.
3. The recording will fade away when accidentally rotating the monitor.

1. A lot of spam messages were received. Can you try to eliminate the repeated long messages that sent by a single number especially those “block and deleted” by many others? That is extremely annoying & greatly affecting user experience.
2. Maybe you can develop a web version so that ppl can use it with Mac and PC
3. When Searching for someone, I would like to have the result of those I have talked with in signal & those I haven't but are in my contact list. This will be much more convenient. Because most of the time I forgot if I have talked to him/ her before.

I think it would make Signal even better if you could find a way to prevent strangers from sending you messages, like only allow messages to go through after a friend request is accepted shouldn’t be too rocket science i suppose? Or to create a special ID so ppl can add you without actually knowing your phone number?
It would be wonderful if this kind of function is available, otherwise tbh i can’t really tell much big diff between signal and whatsapp from a plain user’s point of view (yea i know there are functions like burnt after reading etc) and i’m honestly annoyed being spammed even on signal

Firstly i think adding "starred message" function is the most urgent thing because sometimes we just want to bookmark a very important message or meaningful words from friends. We do not have the function and it takes time to figure those out, we can't always rely on screen captures.
Secondly i think we should be available to adjust/ delete the single sticker in the sticker packs instead of downloading the whole pack. It occupies the space and difficult to find.

The app frequently shut down when trying to open the camera in a chat on iPhone XR. Besides, when listening to multiple voice messages, the second voice message did not play or having no sound after playing the first one. My friends and my family, which uses iPhone 11, iPhone XR as well as iPhone SE 2 (mine is iPhone 11 Pro Max), also experienced the same issue.
Signal is a great app for us to take back our privacy rights, but minor improvements on the app functions can hugely affect user experiences in my opinion. Really hope the Signal team can look into those matter.

Dropped WhatsApp & joins Signal due to privacy issue. Deeply understand that browser version has many problems & downloaded the app versions to my workplace desktop. Yet, one issue I want to raise, even I unlinked my devices I can still see previous chat record on my desktop & I would like this to be updated & no msg could been seen once I unlinked my devices.

There was a message search function, but whenever I search for a specific text strings, the search results were null.
Besides, I have directed a plenty of documents or web link to my friends or colleagues, but the function from searching for the sent documents is missing which was not so user-friendly.

It’s a great app but there are something to improve.
1. Change background. The user can change their background by choosing a photo.
2. The date of the chat could be bigger or highlighted as it’s quite difficult to find the date when I have many chats there.
3. The user can set that who can see my profile photo.
4. Personally, I think the colour of the ‘chat cloud’ now, is blue, is too sharp. Maybe the users can choose the colour they like.
5. Idk is that a bug or it’s my own problem, I found that every time I share things to signal from whatsapp. I can only share one thing at the same time even I’ve chosen several things. Please fix it if it is a bug.🙏🏻🙏🏻
6. Also, in the group members list, if users can directly check the member info by choosing the member. Like phone number, profile photo. that will be better!

Just jumped to Signal from Whatsapp. Things were a bit glitchy and slow at first, but you guys fixed things up quickly. It would be great if we could reply to stickers and reply with stickers, maybe even star messages and send documents, dare I imagine a web based version of Signal. But all in all, I came for the privacy, and I’ll stay for the privacy. Thank you so much for making this work.

Hi team, it’s generally nice but I find it’s really inconvenient to download the photos when receiving bulk of photos from others. I have to click on each photo and save them one by one. Can there be an option to download the photos by multiple selection and do it with one-click button?
Also, when selecting photos to send out, it’s quite sensitive to get other unwanted photos to be clicked. Thanks

Hello nice work signal team! But I found some issues after huge number of users moved from WTsapp on last week: the phone Signal doesn’t sync sent messages made on desktop, it only shows received ones. It was normal for syncing messages both on my home and office PCs be4 and the issue happened recently when I connect new devices. Now I can’t use the desktop Signal until it got fixed.

It is suggested that personalised design of the appearance should be provided. Therefore, users can choose different colours or add their own background picture on the appearance.
Besides, the function of editing the contact lists should be provided . Recently,I have deleted some of the contacts in my phone but the phone numbers are still displayed in my signal contact list. I can’t remove the unwanted phone numbers from my contact list on signal.

1. We should be able to change the order of the sticker packs
2. The layout is too simple: there should be outlines that separate different chats (preferably gray), there could also be message info if you swipe left on a message: like the time the message was delivered and read.
3. There should be more customisations available, like the ability to change the background, colour themes, etc.
4. The icons of the message status are hard to differentiate (Not delivered, delivered, read) the ticks are in separate circles and overlap on each other, making it hard to read.
5. When I try to scroll to, for example: the end of the sticker row, the sliding bar on the bottom blocks me from pressing on the sticker pack, and I have to wait a few seconds every time for it to disappear.
Anyway, it's a good app but theres a lot of room for improvement.

Everything seemed fine for this app, yet i certainly need my own dialogue background, hope that the development team can add the function of modifying our own background in future updates, a simple white or black background is too bland and lacklustre
Other than that, the app wasn’t sensitive enough to switch photo in a chat, after tapping on a photo, i need to tap for a few times to get rid of the photo, which made the app appears to be sluggish

I am so appreciate that signal is a quite high security app. However, there are still a room for improvement such as “pin messages” and I am looking forward to seeing the improve!!Also, if there is more convenient button for often using button would be great e.g. slide left to see the information of the test(what time did the message send).

I think this is a good app. And it will be better with the following features changes:
1. The time of each msg takes too much space. It will be better to put it in the right margin
2. Allow user to change the background. It is a bit too boring with white or black background.
3. Allow user to choose view actual msg time or time from now.
4. Allow user reply with sticker

I find it very inconvenient without displaying the link previews when I share news to my friends via a link. People have no idea what the information is about when they only see a link. Besides, people nowadays will get cautious of receiving just a link without knowing the content of it. As a result, I have to write a title introducing it every time I want to share something. Please improve the matters and make Signal more user-friendly. Thanks!
Buggy and crashes

Besides from it being laggy, has some bugs here and there and crashes totally when I send video or photo, it’s a good app.
I’m using iPhone7. When I send a photo, the first photo might send through, but if I attempt to press the plus sign on the lower left again, it crashes and kicks me out of the app. (Edit: I figured out what this bug is. It happens when I allow signal to access Camera. It works when I disable it.)
Another bug happens when I try to scroll up to see some older messages. It gets to yesterday, then it jumps to far far back in history.
