What time is sunset today? Or sunrise tomorrow? When is the "magic hour" next March 20 in Paris? With Sol, you can check times and get reminders of solar events, at home or while traveling! Great for everyone looking to plan activities based on sunlight. Use it to remind you to walk the dog before dark, get up with the sun, or find golden hour time for that perfect photo.
Sol: Sun Clock is the Swiss-army knife of sunlight tools with a design inspired by the simplicity of the sundial. Use it to plan your day, guide natural sleep cycles, get the best light for outdoor photography, make sure animals or kids are safe inside before dark, or to map out the best times to go running or fishing.
* Be in tune: Sol will tell you when the golden hour is, how much sunlight you have left in the day or what time the next sunrise occurs.
* Look to the future, travel around the world: Sol lets you find sunlight information for any date, anywhere on earth.
* Find solar midnight and solar noon, and all three twilight (dawn and dusk) periods: astronomical twilight, nautical twilight, and civil twilight. Keep tabs on the next solstice and equinox.
* Reminders and Alarms: Use Sol as a natural alarm clock that you can set to any event (like sunset, golden hour or solar noon), and the alarm or reminder time will adjust gradually as the days change with the seasons.
* Automatic Location: Sol not only calculates the amount of daylight and sunrise and sunset times, but does so for any location in the world (both Northern and Southern hemispheres) by using your device's GPS... no network connection required.
* Other locations: Optionally, use the built-in map to choose any location in the world by moving the pin, or search using the name of any city.
* Optional location-aware alarms. Sol knows when you change with your location; and as you travel it will adjust any alarms you set relative to sunrise and sunset times. Create alarms for multiple locations around the world.
* Detailed almanac information: Useful information about the day's length, sun's azimuth and elevation, equinoxes and solstices, and a friendly glossary that explains all the terms.
Note: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. However, GPS runs in the background ONLY if you have set location-aware alarms.

Despite our best efforts in 5.1.1, users who had upgraded to iOS15 were still occasionally having their preferences zapped. We have made substantial additions to the code to try to protect users against any data loss. The app now keeps multiple backups of its settings file, and in addition, users may choose to manually back up their settings. (If you have had issues in previous versions, we recommend installing a fresh copy of the app by deleting your previous version first.)

Benutze die App schon ein paar Jahre beim Fotografieren, beim Wandern, beim Segeln. Die Benutzung ist einfach, die Einbindung der Karte, wenn man es raus hat:-), einfach gelungen. So kann ich recht einfach planen, welches Licht mich an irgendeinem Ort zu irgendeiner Zeit erwartet.

3.8.2016 Es kommen bei mir keine nervigen Bewertungs-Popups mehr. Von daher wieder 5 Sterne.

Man wird durch PopUps zum bewerten der App genötigt.
Mich nervt das - weil diese große Mode zum Aufwand wird und mich alle paar Tage in vielen Apps stört. Deshalb grundsätzlich ein Stern für dieses Verhalten.
Ansonsten läuft die App problemlos bei mir und tut was sie soll.

Ich habe auch andere Apps mit Informationen zum Sonnenstand, aber die hier benutzte grafische Visualisierung ist besonders gut zu erfassen.
Praktisch zur Planung von Nachtwanderungen, Feuerwerken, Fotoshootings usw.

iPhone super, beim iPad wird viel Platz verschenkt.
Die Tabelle mit den Zeiten könnte dauerhaft auf dem Hauptbildschirm angezeigt werden. Oder man könnte die Zeiten in der Grafik einblenden. Es geht doch um die Zeiten. Warum also umständlich in ein Untermenue gehen oder mit dem Drehrad rumspielen?
❗Alles in allem Daumen hoch, weil die Entwickler sich bemühen, die App weiter zu verbessern.

Viele Worte kann man hier nicht verlieren. Wenn man als Fotograf wissen will wann man welches Licht an dem Ort hat an dem man sich befindet, dann ist die App ein Muss.

Eine wunderbare App, es fehlen mir nur einige Alarmfunktionen, z.B. für den Beginn der abendlichen Blauen Stunde (civil twilight beginns), bisher lässt sich nur einstellen, wann es endet.

Very nice visualization, good alarm functions. The only app that lets me set an exact alarm for twilight (not only sunset)!
One drawback: Apparently the app queries the location continuously while it is open. This produces unnecessary battery drain; one short location check when the app opens would be sufficient.
Of course, you can disable the access to Location Services in the preferences, but then you get ugly message pop-ups when you tap the Reset icon.

Die App zeigt in sehr ansprechendem Design Sonnenaufgang und Sonnenuntergang, die verschiedenen Dämmerungszeiten sowie die "Goldene Stunde".
Die "Goldene Stunde" ist die Zeit ca. 1 Stunde nach Sonnenauf- und vor Sonnenuntergang. In dieser Zeit sind die Farben für die Landschaftsfotografie am wärmsten. Die Zeitdauer der Goldene Stunde lässt sich in der App auch konfigurieren!
Gute App, die genau das umsetzt, wofür sie gemacht ist: Sonnenstände für alle Orte der Erde anzeigen. Leider lassen sich noch keine Favoriten anlegen, daher nur 4/5 Sternen!
