Co jakiś czas się wyłącza z powodu braku sieci, która rzecz jasna działa bez zarzutu. Oglądanie serialu zamiast przyjemne jest dosyć uciążliwe, gdy cały czas aplikacja przestaje działać. W konkurencyjnych appkach jakoś nie maja takich problemów. Coraz częściej zastanawiam się nad usunięciem HBO Max, jedyne co mnie trzyma to ich licencja na mój ulubiony serial.
Nie polecam, wręcz odradzam.

The choice is great in terms of movies and shows selection. But the app is a nightmare, I constantly get offline notification and it stops the show im watching. I need to restart the app. The „ads” are also annoying - an overlay advertising some other shows in the middle of watching something - who approved it? At least pause the show when its running when you want to display an ad.

Can’t turn off Audio Description

My blood pressure is rising when I’m using this app. I cannot turn off the audio description on iPad Pro. I tried everything, why does it have to be so difficult for me to go on google and look for solutions to turn it off instead of having „Off” option from the selection list? There’s literally nothing I can do so I can’t watch the things I want to watch due to ridiculous voice over. What’s more it’s not compatible with the Magic Keyboard and I literally had to take my iPad off the keyboard to use the app. This is a joke, out of all the streaming services, HBO Max is the only app that prevents me from watching the titles that I want to watch.

Wykupiliśmy dostęp z myślą o wyjezdzie w miejsce, w którym jest problem z dostępem do internetu. Zachęciła nas opcja pobierania - niestety złudnie. Od samego początku aplikacja napotyka jakieś problemy, nagle się wyłącza, zawiesza, wylogowywuje się z urządzeń. Najgorsze jednak jest to, że aplikacja nagle usuwa wszystkie pobrane filmy/odcinki! (Nie dlatego że wygasły). Nagle bez powodu aplikacja wylogowała się z urządzenia i po zalogowaniu wszystkie wcześniej dostępne odcinki (nawet te zaczęte) zostały usunięte. Nigdy taka sytuacja nie miała miejsca podczas korzystania z innych serwisów streamingowych. Moim zdaniem strata pieniędzy i przede wszystkim nerwów! Nie polecam nikomu.

What’s with the downloaded content remaining available for 48 hrs after someone started playing it? I’m on vacation, it’s raining constantly and the internet is slower than 56k dial-up connection back in the day. I had a movie downloaded that my kiddo watched on the way here… he wanted to watch it again… but guess what - it’s not available in downloads so I can’t renew it. Is this a subscription service or a movie rental? The 48 hrs rule makes no sense to me, especially when your app is highly unreliable.

Ciężko dać więcej niż 1 gwiazdkę gdy włączając film bądź serial na HBO Max po 30 sekundach wyskakuje błąd, wyłączając wspomniany wcześniej film lub serial i przekierowując do zakładki pobrane wyświetlając jednocześnie komunikat, że jest brak połączenia, choć jest pełen zasięg internetu i wszystkie inne aplikacje tego typu działają bez zarzutu. Ale jest rozwiązanie, klikasz odśwież - przekierowuje Cię na stronę główną, więc klikasz oglądaj dalej… niestety ta metoda działa tylko na kolejne 30 sekund. A szkoda bo wybór jest spory i całkiem fajny, szkoda tylko, że płaci się za to, że nie da się z tego wyboru skorzystać :/

On XS max movies are played like on 16:9 screen with black bars on the every side. Pinch to zoom makes bars smaller but problem still exist and I cannot enjoy watching on full screen. Side bars are something I might used to but not on top and bottom. Please fix playback on wider screens.

Zastanawiam się nad rezygnacją. Właściwie większość to seriale. Mnie interesują filmy. Filmy natomiast to w większości pozycje dla ćwierćinteligentów podczas gdy jest mnóstwo tytułów dostępnych i świetnych (dla tych co maja jakiś rozum i zrozumieją intrygę w fabule) a jednocześnie nie nudnych. A tu tylko albo „kino akcji” czyli zwykle mordobicie pełne przemocy i krwi albo jakieś durne i nudne filmy bez sensu albo z kolei przeintelektualizowane.

one of the most expensive proposals on the market and is so protected against piracy that even with a subscription it is a problem to watch at least one episode of anything, the application crashes the movie every 30 seconds you can't use it on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV and it’s drama and sadness. You waste your time reading what you can do to make it work and it doesn't work. This is an epic example of how to alienate customers of a "premium" product

I just wanna say that THE MOVIES ARE INTERESTING AND ALL, but all the other things about this app… I can’t even open it now, like come on we are paying a lot for this, and we aren’t even able to use it. The app says that it’s time to update to the latest version. The exact words are “ Trust us you’ll love it.”
Once you update it, on the App Store it says open, when you click open, it goes to the app and says it’s time to download, when you click download, it goes to the App Store and says open, when you click open, it goes back to the app and says download and round and round you go.
Great shows but the app needs tons more work.

Bureaucracy scammers

I had a year subscription, but in the middle of that, I had to go to another country. In that second country, MAX is not available, so I wasn’t using the service at all.
For unknown reason, I couldn’t use HBO GO in the second country with my HBO max subscription.
When I asked to prolong my HBO max subscription when I was back to the first country, I got a feedback that it’s impossible BECAUSE OF APPLE. Yea, apple prevents them from changing a date in my account. This is called a bureaucracy scam scheme.
Love many shows on HBO, but not gonna buy another year. There are ways to watch for free without being scammed.
P.S. Also they don’t provide any audio/subtitles except 1 local language and original one, so highly don’t recommend you getting it if it doesn’t fit for you

Can’t rewind or move forward the video if it decides to lag, keeping the state in infinity. Only app restart solves the issue…

App is slow, long loading on startup, long images loading, says Im not connected when I am, sometimes logs me out, throws a random guid error. Started downloading tv show episodes but speed is horribly slow for some episodes (while other fast). Offline player starting after 3min and then randomly rewinds back every minute or so! N3tflix, 4m4zonPrime work flawlessly why HBOMAX CANNOT? What bloated requests to what analytics and trackers are there to make the service unusable?

On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Displays in the sidebar.
and change resolution to the middle one 1352x878 and full screen will be working!

W końcu zawitało do nas HBO w pełnej krasie. Kinowe filmy Warner Brosa chwilę po premierze, świetna jakość, pełne 4K Dolby Vision i Dolby Atmos. Po prostu oczu kąpiel ;-) Na uwagę zasługuje również fakt, że aplikacja działa bardzo sprawnie oraz jest dostępna dla iPhone’a, iPada, a także Apple TV. Nie jest także zablokowana dla komputerów z procesorami Apple (M1 i nowsze), więc można ją zainstalować także na np. MacBooku, żeby zgrać sobie film/serial do samolotu (offline).

I don’t know who is in charge at HBO but they should fire their IT department. Such a congestion of glitches of all sorts plus the inability to change the language or subtitles might imply that somebody at HBO is doing it on purpose. It is paid service. You have a nice selection of movies and shows. Get serious and do something with what is now the worst streaming app ever!

The app doesn't work anymore

Seems like the problems started when the newest update went live. Sometimes, the app would play a second of the film/series, and then the screen would go black. Restarting the app usually helped. It does not anymore. I can't watch anything. Reinstalling doesn't help. It was working fine-ish until the last update. Please fix this.

Was trying to watch few episodes in offline mode during my flight but despite having them downloaded the app kept crashing, asking for required connection or not playing any of the movies (blank screen, no video controls, no sound, no video). Never been so annoyed by an streaming app.

Disappointing app and content on HBO max

Recently I started thinking about deleting my subscription because the app is laggy and sometimes not responsive.
The next problem is that I cannot watch on my iPhone 12 Pro in full screen mode while on Netflix app this is possible. Also there is no way to change brightness in app while watching something.
The last one thing is nothing great or entertaining to watch here so HBO max is useless for me and I don’t know why I still paying for this crap.

When it used to work - all was super slow and couldn't watch my downloaded movies without access to wifi/Internet... So what's the point of downloading anything?
Since couple days can't even open the app on my phone (after couple reinstallations). Doesn't work on tv either...

The app didn’t show me my downloaded show, despite I could cleary see that it was in my iphones memory. The download section was just empty and nothing could help it.

Picture in picture doesn’t work

Overall the app works fine, but for some reason the picture in picture mode randomly stopped working one day. I tried logging out and in to my account, I tried uninstalling and re-installing the whole app, I updated my phone to the latest ios, I tried switching the picture in picture setting off and on and I tried switching my phone off and on - nothing works. Other streaming apps on my phone switch to the picture in picture mode without any problem so I really am out of options here

It works fine but only on one device, where I was able to log in. On another login button doesn't do anything. The option I should use is unavailable. And a similar one results in decline saying my account is not working. But it does. HBO GO app was much worse then competition, but worked and then got removed for no value reason. Now this. Its a disgrace that a company like HBO cannot deliver a solid app.

Same review as from other users. Maybe HBO should spend just a little bit less on advertising and just a little bit more on the app? It would make a huge difference. I should get paid for all the debugging work I have to do. Update: Just found a way to stop an endless loop, so I will now finish this review and go watch my show.

No fit to screen and IMDb ratings

On the newest version, the one that changed the icon to a darker one, the app got a lot of UI changes. Still, it’s is baffling to me that the app doesn’t support fit to screen, like in movies you can only see a small window of a movie. Please fix it

Message says: we are not in this region yet and you can watch only downloaded files. The issue is that downloaded files don't start. Another thing is I need internet connection to log in. Other way I can't watch my downloads. So why even bother downloading anything...

The worst app

The app is just terrible. What is the point of downloading the movies when you cannot play them in the flight mode? It freezes with or without wifi, loses connection etc. In the airplane mode, once disconnected, doesnt get back up. Shame - the content is really great.

There are still issues when you're trying to switch and play movie on fullscreen mode on mac. I see only small picure while playing which is not resizing. On concurency, the devs could fix that, but why you cannot?

Why you guys put 'download' option -which I think should mean that I can watch something without internet access, e.g. during train ride - while the app continuously shows errors when I'm offline? The app is very slowly by the way in offline mode

Great content, badly served. This app is very bad. Super slow and not stable, freezing on iPhone and iPad. Download not stable, errors over and over again and it takes several tries to download the content. Very bad performance and connectivity: getting images super slow, interaction with the player often with the delay. Same with Chromecast where title and “banner” stays on the screen or is shown after 30 seconds of the wpisode start. UI sometimes not user friendly and confusing. Also CDN connectivity is not optimal as connection errors are happening very frequently regardless of the location or ISP. You guys need Conviva, NPAW or anything to find out what is wrong and fix it urgently.

I like the series and movies offered but the app often crashes. It seems to happen most often when movies are paused and i want to continue watching at a latter time. It often starts again, does remember where it was paused or even continues at the end as if i watched entirely = very annoying…

If there is period when there might be many people using the app at the same time (for example from every Friday to Sunday) it’s working with windows 95 speed and usually even the entire tv stop working (it happens only while using the HBO app - haven’t seen the problem with Netflix or any other platform)

Downloaded episodes of series don’t group, occasionally they also don’t play (I’m getting an error message saying “try again later”), the app tends to freeze while scrolling, it can be optimized in many ways. The films and series are great though. Still not enough for me to extend my subscription.

After using HBO GO and Netflix, this “new” HBO Max is a huge disappointment.
Not only does it stop every so often to tell me that I am “off line” (which is not the case), it also does not allow do download some films or selected episodes of some series (when some other episodes can be dowloaded in the same time).
To make things worse - the search options are kind of poor compared to e.g. Netflix - searching by directors, actors/actresses, country of origin simply does not work. From my experience - only searches by film names are functional.

HBO max app works worse than the old HBO go. Not what I expected. The movie stops every 10 minutes saying I am offline. When searching movies and browsing the content it starts to work very slow and load. Give us at least one good update to make the app stable. Who are these developers that you hire?

I don’t like this app. HBO Go was much better, more user friendly and more stable- both on TV and mobile devices. I was forced to switch and not only I lost all my favorites but received some unreliable, strange thing. I like the content HBO provides and I’m a long term customer so I hope it will be shortly updated and improved.

Garbage app, netflix is 2 times better can’t lie. Does not respond a lot. Lags when skipping. Screen often goes black for no reason whatsoever. Got subscription only to watch 5th season of Rick and Morty. I won’t recommend it for anything else.
Ps: if you want to watch game of thrones just don’t. I’m mean whole series is great, but last 3 episodes are just a sad dissapointment ;~DDD.

What’s the point of downloading anything if it stops playing every time you are offline? This application was designed by someone who has no idea why people download their favourite shows on their mobile devices. Why would I need a connection if the file has been already downloaded?!

Thank you for best quality content, HBO was always my first steaming choice. I like the new app, finally video is crisp and all recent tech is implemented. IMDB ratings would be useful, there are no ratings now at all.
Sometimes app loads content from another geolocalisation and resets it after couple of seconds. It's a bit shame licenses can't be the same around the world :)

You cannot start again the downloading of one movie, so all i have downloaded before is lost. It could also download while is hidden not only when the program is opened I dont have time to look at the movie picture all the time its being downloaded

There’s a problem with downloading episodes app (meaning you can’t do it), doesn’t run as smooth as one might wish. Connecting with TV is also flawed, but I give credit that it’s better than previous HBO. Huge plus for Friends, still would be much better, if app run smoother.

Its good, everything works well, but the interface of the app its… just not it. Hbo go had imdb and also included easier access to new films and series i might want to watch. Now it’s just boring, looks like a copy of netflix to me (which in some cases is nice and more functional, but unfortunately it’s even worse than netflix interface). It’s also harder to find decent disney movies cause all movies for kids are shoved in the same category: “family films”. Overall i like this new, refreshed look of hbo app, BUT PLEASE bring the “disney” SEPARATE section back and PLEASE bring the IMDb back. The rest features on the app is fine, in my opinion.

I was happy to see a new app. I tried login and it went fine. Now I logged in in the tv, it fails constantly and when i entered in my ios app again, now it fails constantly. Guys seriously this rushed apps are a pain. Please polish all scenarios. Im going back to Netflix as it works flawlessly and Im cancelling my account in HBO. The content is good but doesn't compensate the frustrations I feel every now and then when I access any HBO app

You can watch movies only via Wi-Fi

There is one BIG problem with this app. You can watch movies only when you use Wi-Fi connection. In my opinion this is too big restriction, you should consider to change it

Team, it seem like you have pushed beta to production. App can't resume after sleep, skip intro pauses playback, autopay next episode is too much to ask for, start screen is whatever but not where I left off. Old app was stable and mature, this one is barely holding together.

On macOS fullscreen is not fullscreen

It's nice we can instal iPad version on Mac. Pity it doesnt have a real full screen - picture is always croipperd since whole app window is always cropped to iPad aspect ratio. Somehow Prime app could make it work: when entering full screen at least vide really plays full screem.
Please fix this - thansk to app on mac i can download episodes for offline viewving which is not possible on website.
