Mike Duncan nailed it with this Podcast! It kept me literally sane during the pandemic and I‘m happy that I didn’t stumble over this gem earlier, so I could blasted through it in one go during long and boring hours of several lockdowns. He took me on a journey through time and space to places and people long gone, but painted so vividly and lively that they came back to life for a glimpse. I could enjoy the Roman world from the safety of my comfortable lockdown hideout, without being caught in the crossfire of slave rebellions, civil war, invasions and really deadly plagues. And also I learned a lot about the origins of our European political systems and societies. Hours well spend listening and learning sooo much.
By the way! Don’t miss out on his Books „The Storm before the Storm“ and „Hero of two Worlds“ and his following Podcast Project „Revolutions“, which will take you on a completely different journey through world history and 10 different Revolutions.
Mike! Please keep going and I hope you will never get bored creating this awesome Podcasts and Books.

I enjoyed every episode

Great and very entertaining podcast with a lot of in depth research. The host presents the episodes a very comfortable voice, a little bit but not too much humor. He is very sympathetic and responds to his audience.

Just Amazing

My health and fitness were poor. I discovered podcasts and started to walk. I now look forward every day to walk in order to hear the next podcast and story about the History of Rome. My fitness has improved but also my knowledge.

Mike Duncan has a golden voice, his "History of Rome" is entertaining, clever, erudite and comprehensible – he adds color and life to the blank marble, yet he doesn't lower the level. Recommendable for not-native-tongue listeners (I am one).

the hands down best podcast on roman history

It's not like there is too much competition, but I can not not think of any better way to present the subject in an interesting and good manner. The podcast is fun to listen to and amazingly accurate. If you have any interest in the subject, then this is the podcast to listen to!

Just a great synopsis of the major events in Roman history. For those, who are just a hobby historian, or someone who needs a place to start a more serious study, this is just a great resource. Mike Duncan brings the story alive with his own passion for the subject material and his ability to relate ancient events in a modern context.
Highly recommended.
